CampAlaska Tours was one of the original pioneers in the group touring busniess in Alaska, making more of the beauty of the state available to those who wanted a guided experience to Alaska's many hidden treasures instead of trying to find them on their own. Over the years since its founding in 1985, CampAk added a variety of options, always an industry leader in adventure travel.

The company founder, Tim Adams, passed away in November, 2004. The following year, the family sold CampAk's remaining assets to Jody Young. Jody had been a guide and operations manager for CampAk for 12 years before going out on her own with Jody Young Adventure Travel , the spring before Tim passed away.

Jody specialized in Alaska in the summers, and the deserts of the southwest in the springs and falls, something she has continued after acquiring CampAk. She has contined to run her signature Alaska trip, "Gateway to the Arctic", which is currently available through REI Adventures , as well as a variety of tours for other travel companies as well as custom private group tours for anyone interested in experiencing what Alaska has to offer.

What Jody and her guides now do is what CampAlaska Tours pioneered, travel by van with a small group and an experienced guide. The nights are spent either tent camping in one of Alaska's beautiful parks or stay at small local hotels.The pace is relaxed so you can enjoy the scenery, the stops are designed to fit the trip and travel organizer's goals, and can include the usual hiking, camping, kayaking, rafting, a scenic flight, climbing a mountain or crossing a glacier, or one of the many cultural stops that Jody herself has created, at iconic Alaska locations and with local cultural figures.
